Ailmlugh Farm & Gardens

Blooms, Quacks, & Perseverance

At Ailmlugh Farm and Gardens, our mission is to nurture the land and serve the community with sustainable farming. We are dedicated to preserving heritage breeds and fostering a harmonious environment with an emphasis on native trees/plants here in Lowell, MI.

After laying the groundwork for a couple years, in 2024 we launched our Farm Stand and welcomed our community to enjoy the produce grown right here on our farm. It’s been pretty cool to grow enough produce to stock a farm stand.

Our growing practices are simple, we use water, soil, companion planting techniques and no-till. Over the winter we keep the soil covered and add used duck straw. To prepare new areas for growing, we used heavy rubber mats to solarize eliminate weeds.

Currently the ducks are our only farm animals. We love them, and they’re hilarious. They are so self-assured. They help in so many ways: eggs, bug control, humor, soil enrichment, community engagement. They keep us humble too. Click here to learn more about our special ladies.

Future plans include American Chestnut Trees, wild type apple tree seedlings, and expanded gardens.

All of these activities take heart and effort, but with perseverance: we’ll get there.
